I had a '95 Celica GT convertible and loved it. I'd probably still be driving it if I hadn't stumbled into a deal for the S. I still see it occasionally - the girl I sold it to drives it like she stole it.
It was mine experience with the Celica Convertible that was NOT desinged as as a convertible that the earlier models with I test drove had quite of flex that was noticible even at moderate speeds (as cutting the top off, in Califorornia really reduced the frames rigidity.

So by comparioson the S must be the opposite of the "flexible flyier" that you drove before?

It really wasn't all that bad - I seem to recall the '95 was the next to last year for that body style and Toyota had made some changes to reduce the flex.

It was better than a stock Miata but no S2000.

[QUOTE=CitadelBlue,Sep 2 2006, 10:42 PM]Seems there are at least 2 other Capri (former) owners out there...... and you know I am told there are at least 8000 1971-1977 Capris left in the world.

Wow you guys have had some great little cars! My only "sporty" car before the S was a '96 Honda del Sol Si.

When I owned the BMW 1600 I picked up a hitchhiker at Hoover Dam while I was returning home (New Mexico back then). The guy was a young sailer and me being in the Air Force I had to show him how well the Beemer handled. He was going to ride with me till I got to Albuquerque (I spelled it right the first time ) but he got out at the next town.

My sig pretty much says it.

I learned the most about sports cars and about driving with the '63 Giulietta. The '65 1600 Veloce was strong for its time, but by 1986 the CRX Si could outdo the Alfas in every measureable way. The S2000, of course, exemplifies the sportiness of the Veloce, but with more of everything including Honda reliability.

My favorite previous convertible was this jewel.

1969 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport, I still miss it.
