The Total Eclipse of the Sun
I know this was discussed in Patty's lightning bug thread, but thought it deserved its own. Here is a pretty interesting website that allows you to plug in your zip code to determine the extent of the eclipse near you, plus other information:

Kansas City, MO airport is 100%. I may not need to drive anywhere with my daughter.

Good website, Gene. Here in DC:
"The eclipse will peak at 2:42:44 pm EDT, when the moon obscures 81.1% of the sun."

Option 1 - stay home and see it black out 81%
Option 2 - drive 300 miles and see it black out 100%
Option 3 - stay home and watch it black out 100% on TV

My wife and plan on traveling to Casper Wy for the eclipse, statistically the skies will be clear.
Our trip will be humorous; we’ll leave on the preceding day to avoid horrendous traffic snarls and spend the night camping out at a predetermined campsite. My Honda Pilot’s cargo area will serve as our overnight accommodations. The rear seats fold flat to provide a large open area. We’ll bring all of the necessities for an evenings sleep, eats, daylight shade, chairs, and provisions for a reasonable hygiene. Found the campsite through an app called Airbnb. Some Casper residents are renting their home’s bedrooms for $1000.00+ a night - the few remaining hotels want much more!! Don’t wanna’ to pay that price.
We hope to enjoy ourselves and take some great photos of a once in a life-time event. One more thing off of my bucket list!
