Too much perfume cologne
I had a bit of an asthma flare this week. Not terrible, but I'd rather not hack the day away. I started some meds the other day, and I had pretty much stopped most of the coughing, until late this afternoon. A sales woman for a vendor we do business with stopped by. She had a cloud of perfume around her.
I started coughing almost right away. If I had not had an issue this week, maybe the perfume would not have bothered me, however many people are bothered by strong colognes/perfumes. It makes me wonder why some folks think they need to wear so much of the stuff.
I don't see this person often, she didn't stay that long, so I didn't say anything. In spite of using more medication, I coughed on and off for over an hour. Would you ever say anything to someone whose cologne bothers you? You know for future reference, a little FYI.

It's a touchy subject, but for the most part I hate perfume.
I don't get the asthma thing going but i do get the runny itchy eyes etc.
We got stuck on a flight somewhere next to a perfume bimbo.
ugh i thought the plane would never land.

That's a tough issue particularly in Napa and more so in tasting rooms. People like to stick their nose in their glass and smell the wines before tasting, and when you have a lady (or sometimes a man)o with an overwhelming odor of perfume or cologne, it really makes it tough to pretend to be a wine snob.

It really is a very difficult situation, no one wants to offend someone else. I think a one time occasion should be ignored however if it is going to occur often then I think I would explain my health issue and ask them that if at all possible that they take it into account. Lots of churches have designated seating for those who do and do not wear perfume.
At college I had a teacher who's body odour was terrible. As the weeks went by it became less and less noticable. She then explained that it was a nervous reaction and that she was unable to do anything about it. It lessened as she felt more comfortable with the class. She wore perfume but it really did not help.

Who voted for the suck on the inhaler choice?
I discreetly used the inhaler when the woman was speaking to my boss.

Maybe, you should get out your inhaler and use it in her presence so that she will realize that her perfume is affecting someone.
What do you (or anyone else) think about that?
Yeah, I probably wouldn't say anything myself. I'm not good at confronting someone, well at least not someone I don't know very well.

Sue. I thought about that, but since it was an unusual happening, I didn't go that route.

Some things are a lot easier said than done, and I doubt that I would do it.
I probably would have just suffered in silence and then complained to goblues2k that evening at dinner time.
