There is a certain mercy to heart attacks. Blip and your done.
It is perhaps the most merciful in that regard.
As zero has said, ALS took two years, I had a local acquaintance, who succumbed to pancreatic cancer over a 3 year period.
and of course Alzheimer's which slowly extracts it's toll over many years.

My father and his brother feuded bitterly for decades over family issues. ( I dont think anybody holds grudges like an Italian family)
They made up and even hugged at a family event and agreed to get together.
My Uncle died before they did

I know all about 'dem Italians and grudges, they take things way to personally. Sad to miss out on such important relationships with siblings.
