Hey Maury, at some point, you're supposed to come on here and say "your welcome." WTH are you? Is everything ok?

I suspect that I unwittingly started that one.

On Friday, when Carmen complained on the board about SF not being far enough south, and Deb urging him to go ahead and organize it, I mentioned this to a few folks I met Friday evening. Myrtle Beach being rather flat, touristy, and often crowded (at least to my recollection), I said that we would want to move inland. Since I have relatives there, I suggested Asheville. I believe it was Ken (kgf3076) who then mentioned that Asheville has some great roads around it, so it would be a great location.

Of course, if Carmen decided to organize it there anyway (it's 5-6 hours from Myrtle Beach), I wouldn't complain.

(Note how I've volunteered Carmen to organize it already. It's so easy to volunteer people when they aren't around. )

Wasn't "complaining", just made an observation based on someone's previous post. It may have been "Emil".

Asheville would be a haul for quite a few peeps, but it is certainly a beautiful area.
Yes, but less of a haul for others...ie. the Florida, Georgia gang. Everything is relative I guess. As with all the other SF's, if someone plans it, regardless of where it's at, the house will be full.

Wink

Maruy, thank you for the time, effort, stress, and love, you put into this event, for us. Thank you for living in Pennsylvania. The entire event was well organized, the food was delicious, the drive was superb, the pool fun was really fun, the dinner activities were unusual and fun, and everything was just peachy. I even slept like a baby in a hotel all three nights. You and your volunteers did a wonderful job!! And I like the way you pulled stirngs to get the perfect drive in, of the perfect length, and arranged to have the rain come afterwards. That is clout!

I've been back east for plenty of meets but I think this was my favorite drive. I guess the credit for it goes to superfunguy? It was a perfect length, and I loved the gorgeous scenery, with long stretches of twisty roads, without having to make turns onto other roads. The stop at Ohiopyle was absolutely gorgeous. If this happens again in two years, I will have to drive my own S. Riding with Ellen was great, but today, after driving my own S, I was sad that my Suzuka baby and I didn't get to play together on those roads.

This was an A-1 class act all around. Thank you, Maury. Also thanks to Beth, Ken, our drive leaders, and your Alleghany gang who were a part of this.

Folks, you are all welcome and I would like to honestly say that it was our pleasure to organize this event. As I mentioned in my thank-you's I could have never pulled this off without my friends and volunteers. You are all a special group of people that I love to be around, and I get my "payment" in seeing everyone have a great time. I didn't make this event, we all did, and together I look forward to many many more Flings.
