Terror Warning

Terror Warning
Now that Tom Ridge has given VERY specific warnings, down to the building level, what would you do if you worked in one of those buildings? Part of me says, "F them! I'm going to work and not letting these A-holes dictate my life". On the other hand, if you have a wife and young children, and you have responsibilities, what do you do? I'm interested in hearing all opinions. Would you move from NY city to Peoria?

Working three blocks from the White House makes some of us here nervous but we refuse to operate in fear so we come on in to work all prayed up. That plus the government and firms down here are open and if we used our leave every time there was an alert, we'd all be on leave without pay by now.
So, even though it's at "High" this time, here I sit playing with my S2K buddies waiting for some work to come in. If I'm going out, I'm going with my fingers on the keyboard keeping you guys posted until the very end. The firm has issued emergency survival packs so I'll probably stay put if anything jumps off. Last time, we all went out and sat in non-moving traffic for hours on end. I'd just as soon stay here and talk to you guys (long as the power holds out) and look at the pictures of the great time we had this past weekend. Come to think of it, the building did do a hard shake a few minutes ago. Let me go investigate. I'll be back.

Well now that terror alert has beem issued, here is an article that I found today from the BBC.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/3530358.stm
It appears as though all might not be as it seems. I have a friend that works for a large NY financial concern and they were asked to "drill" for disaster a little while back, seems curious that they just received new data that is very "recent".
It's that smell of fish I just can't get past.

Good question.
I suspect I would go to work everyday, but I can not imagine how distracted I would be and how inefficiently I worked due to part of my mind being elsewhere.
So granny, you can't just say the building shook and then not come back and give us an update...

If I lived someplace like Israel or the Gaza Strip where bombings were the norm and such warnings were precursors of likely attacks, I would absolutely heed them and consider radically adapting my life so as to PRESERVE my life.
However, my impression of the terror threat levels in the United States is that we are not significantly more likely to have an attack within our borders than we were 15 years ago...and it wasn't all that likely then.
I'm not saying that acts of terror do not happen on our shores or won't again in the future, but I will not let fear of some random possibility rule my life.
I grew up an Army brat. I lived all over the world growing up. I can remember a number of occasions during the Cold War when security on the bases was so tight that I actually had to show ID and pass by tanks and heavily armed troops to go to elementary school.
That didn't stop me.
If someone wants to attack bad enough...they will. I will take reasonable precautions, but I will NOT give up my life.

Sorry Trip, Must have been a senior moment. Nobody felt or heard it but me. But then again, nobody here felt that last earthquake but me either. Anything going on in the news? We don't have access to a TV here. All seems quiet so I guess I'll keep working.
