I got let go from a job once, maybe a year after I starting working after college. It is painful, but I got another job right away doing something better. I'm sure that is the way it will work out for you, too.

Best wishes, Jonas. Perhaps you'll have more time to enjoy your daughter, your home and your S. I'm sure you'll be out looking for other opportunities, but really hope you have a little time to just plain chill before hitting the 9 to 5 again.

Actually, I'll be at BeaveRun this Tuesday. I was wondering how I was going to get the day off......

They have given you time to find something you like better on their dime.
I was already searching. It was nice to be looking while in a comfy (financial) situation, even if the work atmosphere was crap. How bad could it be, though, working from home, where your coworkers and boss are hundreds of miles away?

As for Kim, Cobra will help with the medical and then she can take a little with her baby.
Continuing COBRA coverage is close to $1K per month. Ouch.

It's not so much the medical - she's already moved to her husband's coverage - but the disability. She would have recieved a reduced pay during her maternity leave. Now she gets nothing.

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone.

Interestingly, I just got a call from a guy I know through Virginija (he's an IT guy who has a string quartet on the side that Virginija sings with sometimes). He's got some leads for me (he doesn't yet know about my situation, though I had spoken to him in a general way a couple months ago).

As my friend, Mr. Spock, would always say "There are always....possibilities."
