"Only Sixteen" - Sam Cooke

She was only sixteen,
Only sixteen,
My hearts all aglow.
But she was too young,
To fall in love,
And I was too young,
To know.

Why did you give your heart so soon,
Oh it never will happen again,
But I was a mere lad of sixteen,
I've aged a year since then.

She was only sixteen,
Only sixteen,
My hearts all aglow.
But she was too young,
To fall in love,
And I was too young,
To know.

"Once In A While"-The Chimes

Once in a while will you try to give one little thought to me
Though someone else maybe nearer your heart

Once in a while will you dream of the moments I shared with you,
Moments before we two drifted apart.

In love's smoldering ember, one spark may remain,
If love still can remember the spark may burn again.

I know that I'll be contented with yesterday's memory,
Knowing you think of me once in a while.

(actually I looked up this lyric, I couldn't remember it all)

Shaken' Stevens or was it Marylin Chambers

Midnight
one more night without sleepin' -
Watchin'
till the morning comes creepin'.
Green door
what's that secret you're keepin'?
There's an old piano and they play it hot behind the green door
Don't know what they're doin'
But they laugh a lot behind the green door.
Wish they'd let me in
So I could find out what's behind the green door.
Knocked once
tried to tell 'em I'd been there

Door slammed
hospitality's thin there.
Wonder just what's goin' on in there.
Saw an eyeball peepin' through a smokey cloud
Behind the green door

When I said
Joe sent me

Someone laughed out loud behind the green door.
AII I want to do is join the happy crowd behind the green door.
Midnight
one more night without sleepin' - . . .
Saw an eyeball peepin' through a smokey cloud . . .
Wish they'd let me in
So I could find out what's behind the green door.

Rob, I'm with you. Green Door and Rock Around The Clock were the first two I remember getting a lot of play on the radio. . . before the days of Bandstand TV.
