Oh boy - Now I have to get out all my 45s and look at my faves. And play them on my last year's Xmas present to myself - a record player from Sharper Image.

None that I know of. I think there was a closer relationship between the Philly sound and the NYC sound until Phil Spector introduced his "Wall of Sound".

Sealed With A Kiss

Charted by Brian Hyland at # 3 in 1962
Later charted by Gary Lewis and the Playboys at # 19 and The Toys at # 122 in
1968
Also charted by Bobby Vinton at # 19 in 1972
Written by Gary Geld and Peter Udell

'Tho we gotta say goodbye for the summer
Darling I promise you this
I'll send you all my love every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
Guess it's gonna be a cold lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my love every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
I'll see you in the sunlight
I'll hear your voice everywhere
I'll run to tenderly hold you
But darling you won't be there
I don't wanna say goodbye for the summer
Knowing the love we'll miss
Oh let us make a pledge to meet in September
And seal it with a kiss
Guess it's gonna be a cold lonely summer
But I'll fill the emptiness
I'll send you all my love every day in a letter
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss
Sealed with a kiss

To Know Him Is To Love Him (1958)
The Teddy Bears

-written by Phil Spector

To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile, makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
And I do

I'll be good to him, I'll bring love to him
Everyone says there'll come a day when I'll walk alongside of him
Yes, just to know him is to love, love, love him
And I do

Why can't he see, how blind can he be
Someday he'll see that he was meant for me

To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile, makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
And I do

Why can't he see, how blind can he be
Someday he'll see that he was meant for me

To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile, makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
And I do

To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
Just to see him smile, makes my life worthwhile
To know, know, know him is to love, love, love him
And I do

"On Broadway"-The Drifters

They say the neon lights are bright on Broadway,
On Broadway,
They say there's always magic in the air,
On Broadway.
But when you're walkin down that street,
And you ain't had enough to eat,
The glitter of lights off,
And you're no where.
On Broadway.

They say the girls are somethin else on Broadway,
On Broadway,
But looking at them just gives me the blues,
On Broadway.
Cause how you gonna make some time,
When all you got is one thin dime,
And one thin dime won't even shine your shoes.
On Broadway.

They say that I won't go too far on Broadway,
On Broadway,
I'll catch a Greyhound bus for home they all say,
On Broadway.
But oh they're wrong, I know they are,
Cause I can play this here guitar,
And I won't quit til I'm a star on Broadway.
On Broadway.

Under The Boardwalk
( The Drifters )

Oh, when the sun beats down and burns the tar up on the roof
And your shoes get so hot you wish your tired feet were fire-proof
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) people walking above
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be making love
Under the board-walk (board-walk!)

From the park you hear the happy sound of a carousel
Mm-mm, you can almost taste the hot dogs and French fries they sell
Under the boardwalk, down by the sea
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) people walking above
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be making love
Under the board-walk (board-walk!)

[break]

Oooooh, under the boardwalk, down by the sea, yeah
On a blanket with my baby is where I'll be

(Under the boardwalk) out of the sun
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be havin' some fun
(Under the boardwalk) people walking above
(Under the boardwalk) we'll be falling in love
Under the board-walk (board-walk!)

"Sixteen Candles" - The Crests

Sixteen Candles,
Make a lovely sight,
But not as bright,
As your eyes tonight.

You're only sixteen,
But you're my teenage queen,
You're the loveliest, prettiest girl,
I've ever seen.
I've ever seen.

Blow out the Candles,
Make your wish come true,
For I'll be wishin,
That you love me too.

You're only sixteen,
But you're my teenage queen,
You're the loveliest, prettyest girl,
I've ever seen.
I've ever seen.

I just got back from visiting my 99 3/4 yr old mom in NC, so that's the main reason I haven't posted on this thread.

I have a turntable right beside me on my desk. I also have about 1000 45's and several hundred albums in the basement, not to mention the 100 45's on my Seeburg JB. (My faves)

I have copies of most of the records listed so far. I'm more into early R&B, however.

Special award # 1: Who originally recorded "The Twist" ? (Not Chubby Checker.)

Looks like I also need to update the member stats.

By the way, Rob, Johnny Maestro sang lead with the Crests on Sixteen Candles, as well as most of their other hits.

Quick Reply: "Teen Angel", "Tell Laura I Love Her" and other old songs.
