I bet it was a great concert. I'd have loved to have been there.

For Deb

"Wake Up Little Susie" The Everly Brothers

Wake up little Susie, Wake up
Wake up little Susie, Wake up

We've both been sound asleep
Wake up little Suzie and weep
The movie's over it's four o'clock
and we're in troube deep

Wakeup a little Susie
Wakeup a little Susie

Well what are they going to tell your mama
What are they going to tell your pop
What are they going to tell our friends when they say
Oh-la-la

Wake up a little Susie
Wake up a little Susie

Well and told your mama that we'd be in by ten
Well Susie baby looks like we goofed again

Wake up a little Susie
Wake up a little Susie
We gotta go home

Wake up little Susie, Wake up!
Wake up little Susie, Wake up!

The movie wasn't so hot
it didn't have much of a plot
We fell asleep our goose is cooked
our reputation is shot

Wake up a little Susie
Wake up a little Susie

Well what are they going to tell your mama
What are they going to tell your pop
What are they going to tell our friends when they say
Oh-la-la

Wake up a little Susie
Wake up a little Susie
Wake up a little Susie

For all of the Vintage members celebrating their birthday, here is one of my favorite 1950s doowop birthday songs.

"Happy, Happy Birthday Baby"

Happy, happy birthday baby
Although you're with somebody new
Thought I'd drop a line to say
That I wish this happy day
Would find me beside you
Happy, happy birthday baby
No, I can't call you my baby
Seems like years ago we met
On a day I can't forget
Cause that's when we fell in love

Do you remember
The names we had for each other
I was your pretty
You were my baby
Oh, how could we say goodbye

Hope I didn't spoil your birthday
I'm not acting like a lady
So I'll close this note to you
With good luck and wishes too
Happy happy birthday baby

I wasn't going to bring this thread back, but when I saw this obituary in today's New York Times, I had to.

Ray Peterson, the singer of one of rock n roll biggest tearjerkers "Tell Laura I Love Her" died yesterday at the age of 65. Aside from "Tell Laura" Peterson also recorded and had a hit with the song "Corina, Corina".

Ray Peterson, RIP
