Default Sunday at the races

Pretty slow day here, so I was able to watch the F1 race which I thought was pretty good. What's not to like about Spa. Wonderful track. Even if the Merc's continue to kick ass it was still an interesting race. Then I went for a ride in the MG while taping the GT race at VIR. Another great road race course. And, a really good race. I was rooting for the Vets but they are carrying extra weight for being so good in the early races, and it appears the new tires don't work with their setup too well. Then came the Indy gang. I don't like circle racing and even if it's a triangle in PA, it's circle racing to me. But, as usual these days these guys put on the best show. OMG, what action. My prays go out to Wilson who was hit by a nose cone flying off another car's wreck. I am sure it's serious as hell, when they put you immediately into a helicopter. Even though it ended under yellow, I still think Indycar racing is as good as it gets.

After watching Spa, Rosberg must be getting ready to fold the tent.
He got trounced by Lewis in qualifying.
You have to wonder at what point Merceedes makes the decision that Lewis is the #1 driver and he needs to yield to him.
Of course to yield you must be in front......

I don't see that happening. The two MB driver's pushing each other continues to mean great results for the manufacturer.

I just read that he died. He was the tallest driver in the Indy series at 6'4". I wonder if that was a factor? It happened so fast I don't recall the angle of the nose cone when it hit him.

No one would ever call Felipe Massa tall at 5' 5" but he got hit in a similar accident several years ago.
He was very fortunate to have survived.

Tony Stewart lent his private plane to reunite Wilson’s family in Pennsylvania after the accident. One of those nice gestures that doesn't make headlines.

A sad thing for sure, but it is something that happens with racing.
