Good point. I have thought of that, but going ahead with NO consultation is just as fraught with peril. For example, lthough I said I'd be holding the Tomcatt meet even if it's just Hilly and me, I really would rather get a nice group together.

I'll vote May, but I really don't care either way. I do prefer the sooner meet after a long winter, but anytime I can get together with you all I'm going to do my best to attend.

And don't worry Jonas, Misty and I will be there with you for the Tomcatt for sure .

Oh, and just to throw more eggs in an already overflowing basket...I wanna go back to Lake George sometime in the future!!!

Oh, is that near Marietta, Phil

How about Niagra-on-the-Lake instead....that's a pretty nice location.....and close to the Canadian folks

^ Obviously, you've been spending too much time on Rob's Robin thread Hmmm: "When the NFR NFR Robin Went Rob Rob Robbin' Along...." Isn't the mind a scary thing....

Speak for yourself, Jer.

Very good point, Lainey. I especially concur with #3. There are always a few peeps who are petty and/or full of themselves. BTW, to go off topic a bit - none of those peeps are responsible for my decision to retire from event organizing. Just want to be clear about that. I've really enjoyed doing it, and my many friends in Vintage and elsewhere on S2Ki have made it very worthwhile.

There is no way an organizer is going to please everyone, so don't bother to try. It is good to have a thread like this, however, to gauge what most are interested in. Those that want to/can be there will.

3 . Keep negative thoughts to themselves if things aren't exactly what they expected.
I agree with that, and I'd like to add a bit to it as well.

If you've trusted those who are working on the meet to do the planning, let them do the planning. One of the most discouraging and difficult things I had to deal with, and especially concerning the Gathering in Gettysburg, was that after some of the schedule had been announced, people would propose alternatives. These proposed alternatives were posted without any thought or concern given to the rest of the planning and scheduling. Sometimes they were good ideas that perhaps should have been sent via pm to the planners, and oftentimes they were posted just to be contrary.

Its hard enough to plan one of these events without all of the noise. Unless you are actively participating in the planning, or have been asked for a suggestion, its usually best to let the planners do the planning.

Very well, put MsP. Kudos to you for taking on what started out to be a small little intimate gathering (way back when SF first started) and leading it on to the quite large event it has become.

Spring Fling 07 was very nice. As a former +1 and now a newbie to vintage I plan to attend SF 08 whenever, but May would be my preference.

We will be in northern Michigan fishing in June; so May gets our vote but that early it could be snowing.
