I figure about an hour or an hour and a half before the reception.

I'll start a list in the first post. If you only posted information about sites to visit and did not discuss joining us on the trip, I'll assume you are just trying to be helpful and I won't include you on the list. Let me know if my assumption is wrong and I will write you in. I'm not trying to leave anyone out. The more the better.

Thanks.

Bill

Bill,

Just trying to be helpful since I live in Winchester. I'll be out with Ken and Gene making sure we don't get lost on Saturday!

Justin
No problem. Thanks for the input. Glad to have the local input. I wasn't sure if any of these sights were worth seeing.

We'll probably be at the Potomac Bead Store!

The Potomac Bead Company
2 reviews
115 North Loudoun Street
Winchester, VA 22603

Kathy makes necklaces.... bracelets... earrings....

And is always looking for more beads....
Was this the same place we went last year?
Different store I think, but same company...

Depends on when I wake up from my long spring nap! You're not excited or anything, are you, LB?

Was looking at the route from here...thought we would go Route 7, but then saw Route 50. Will go through Middleburg and Upperville, two lovely towns in VA horse country. Homes of the mink and manure set. Might even stop at the Coach Stop restaurant in Middleburg. Love that place.

How about if those who are interested in some sight seeing meet at the hotel lobby around 2:00 on Friday afternoon? Let me know if that makes sense for you.

This link has five different museums, including George Washington's office, Stonewall Jackson's 1862 Winter HQ, and Abrams Delight - one of the oldest homes in Winchester.

The Old Town Walking Mall (where Union Jacks is located) is being rededicated starting on Friday.

Harpers Ferry and Antietam are 45 - 60 mins away. Someone already mentioned Luray Caverns - about an hour away.

Hope this helps...
Thank you for mentioning the caverns. I didn't see it before and that's what strikes my fancy.

Luray Caverns
It's about an hour's drive and costs $24. I'll probably go there.

They are pretty and nice countryside around there. Interesting article about a family rift surrounding the caverns.
