What a bunch of wimps. I think I can win this thread.

I won't go into the details, but last month I was diagnosed with a terminal illness. Before any of you start celebrating, I feel fine and I won't be dying anytime soon. The diagnosis wasn't unexpected nor particularly life changing. I'm not going anywhere soon, so don't be afraid to loan me money should I ask.

Yep, you win the prize. Sorry to hear. Glad you're not leaving soon. Been having a string of bad days for about 3-4 weeks now, but no comparison to yours. We're dealing.

I am not sure how to take this, given his sense of humor. But, assuming he isn't reflecting on the fact that we all die sometime, I wish our southern friend all the best but I am not loaning him any money!

The illness is quite real. However, while it may kill me eventually, it will not rob me of my dignity, nor - more importantly - my sense of humor. Thanks for the good wishes.

Yo Dean, can have get in one more visit before you go? I promise you won't have to call the cops this time.

But yeah, you win and I have about two cents to rub together that you can have anytime you need them since I owe you for such great hospitality that time. You're a tough ol' bird so hang tough buddy. The fat lady hasn't even cleared her throat yet from the sound of things.

Thanks. You are most welcome at my house anytime. You may not recognize the place, though. I've done a great deal of remodeling to the place since you were here last. In fact, I even made some major improvements in the spousal department.
