Yea Sam, someone earlier had commented similarly.
It's just odd. Member since 2002 (20 years)... Huh, what? That's 22. and if its in increments of 5, just show 4 stars. The oddity of showing single stars, but only in blocks of 5 just really doesn't have much logic to it. That's it.

Option 2 let stars represent binary values.*
we can do 63 years this way. add a few more stars to go bigger.
Coding this I'd do a case/when (years) statement, while the source is a little larger it produces nice compact executable code.
disclaimer, I'm a little endian kind of guy.
