Hush! I'm leaving the warmth of Alexandria to go to the frigid north...don't rub it in...

I hope it wasn't too frigid last night on the Seneca Lake cruise and that everyone had a good time. Quiet weekend here. Visiting with my dad at rehab, etc. May watch the Nats game today with my mom. They are on fire!!! The +1 and went shopping to find an easy chair for the living room. Ordered a really nice, comfortable one with an ottoman. To arrive in 8-12 weeks. That pretty much completes the new condo (well, new since January). I took a bunch of pics, which I will try to upload today.

Deb, I thought we were going to really be cold on the boat, but it was so warm that some folks opened the curtains up a bit.

The only issue was the rocking of the boat while at the dock. I had my doubts as to if I'd make the trip. One of the crew gave me some Dramamine and I got off the boat until it was time to leave. They said it would be very smooth once they left the dock and it was.

Our Ruined2 didn't make the ride after all, but it was most understandable. I almost jumped shipped with him. The boat line refunded all his $ except the cost of his meal.

Yes, I saw that choppy water - I'm glad it worked out even if Phil had to bail. Weather was iffy, I see, but not a complete washout.

My dad just turned 85, so we're getting the entire family together in Las Vegas this weekend to celebrate.

We'll be coming from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, New York, Baltimore, Sonoma, San Diego, and Chicago... probably the last time we'll ever be all together in one place.

It'll be nice to see eveyone.

The son of one of my long time friends is having his Bar Mitzvah this weekend so we're off to Connecticut on Saturday. We've been friends for close to 50 years, and another of my long time friends is coming as well. The three of us first met and became friends when we all moved into the neighborhood in Brooklyn in 1959.

Its actually a sad story. The father of the Bar Mitzvah boy, Harvey, has Lyme disease which he first contracted in the early 1980s. The disease went undiagnosed for 15 years, and when the doctors finally realized what it was it was too late. The virus (or whatever lyme is) had entered his spinal fluid. My friend hasn't been able to work (he was a dentist) since the mid 1990s, can hardly walk and probably doesn't have too very much time left. The three of us try to get together a few times a year, just to cheer Harv up. Its always a bittersweet visit.

I'm especially close to Harv. We were the last of our group to get married, and after college we took apartments in New York City about a block away from each other. We bummed around together for a few years. Harv met his first wife the same weekend that I met Liz. Harv was married by the end of that summer, it took Liz and me three more years to finally tie the knot.

Harv's mom and dad are in their mid/late 80's and I haven't seen them for a long time. As kids we spent lots of time in each other's houses. It'll be good to see them again.

Going to my parents house on Long Beach Island. Do my laundry in thier awesome washing machine, going to make my Mom laugh with my whacky behavior and enjoy reading the NYT and Ledger with my Dad on Fathers day Morning on the deck! I wonder if he'll bring up(again) that he has the same engine in his CRV as my s2000?. ......"Dad ...just because you have a 2 liter doesn't mean its the same engine.....for the millionth time!"

Friday night I'm going to see the movies Cars, with my family of four and our daughter's boyfriend. Rev Happy, a So California S2ki member, bought a block of 24 reserved seats at the El Capitan theater in Hollywood, so I bought 5 tickets from him. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie and to be hanging with my family.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, my almost 18 year-old son ( born 8-8-88) gets all four wisdom teeth out. I'll be hanging out at home with him, so I hope to get my Spring Fling photos up tomorrow.
