So, what are you doing this weekend?

I suspect that next week will be very busy for me, work-wise, so I think I need to be mostly packed for SF this weekend. The weather is supposed to be cool & dry, so it will be a good weekend to wash & wax & get the car prepped. Otherwise, no plans.

The birds are out and the sun is shining.
Yesterday was the 1st day of hurricane season and we got about 2"-3" of rain in about 2 hours.
So I guess I'll spend the weekend installing Secure Door veritical bracing on the garage door for wind protection.....Party on.

I'm kicking off my summer with a 3-day jazz festival in the area starting tonight. An awesome lineup with some of my favorite smooth jazz artists, Whalum, Albright, Ritenour, and a new guy I just fell in love with, Kem, to name a few. And if I'm not too tired and plumb "woe" out after THIS weekend, I just may bring my party on up to Nue Yawk next weekend. Granny is ready to parrrr-tay! She be jammin' mon! Where's RD when I need him.

Speaking of Florida, are The Deanster and Martha still coming up this way?

Between paying legal fees and day care for the kids, working on the house, plus not having a dog sitter (one of the few things I miss about being at a university is having grad students to exploit :sigh, we may not get to go anywhere this summer. Except for flying all the kids down here and taking them to Disney and Seaworld, of course.

+1 and I went to the Farmer's Market and picked up some nice tomatoes and some basil to plant in my herb garden. Had lunch in a really neat little cafe. +1 is going to a little county fair with the grandkids and I'm taking my big ole bulldog for a trail walk. Then I'll work in the herb garden and help +1 with some chores outside. After that if I've any energy left I'm going to polish up the S and get her ready for the drive to SF.

Krystal (our youngest) and her fiance Nick plus my nephew and four girls from Krystals Sigma, Sigma, Sigma planted a miniture crab apple tree in Tom's honor in our front yard today. The friends of Krystal wanted to give us something, but didn't want to just give a plant so they decided to buy and plant this tree for us.
It was fun seeing all these young people working together doing something special (and non of them had any experience planting ANYTHING before). I just hope the tree grows!
