So, what are you doing this weekend?

This coming weekend is the Marine Corps Marathon. My condo overlooks the Iwo Jima Memorial where the race starts and ends. This is the 30th anniversary of the marathon and they have accepted 30,000 participants - a record. Previously, they capped it at about 18,000. So of course, it will be a zoo around here on Sunday. The +1 has run it twice, but waited too late to register this year. We are entertaining six runners for the traditional pasta dinner the night before. Should be fun.
My mother came home yesterday from a stay in the hospital, so may visit with her some. Also doing some shopping for suits for the +1, who is about ready to retire from the Navy and go out into the cold, hard world of consulting.
TGIF, Everyone!!

Good luck, Bill...when does the road show end???!!! The +1 and I had a blast at my high school 50th anniversary. We danced up a storm. But very few peeps from my class showed up. That was a disappointment. About a third came to the 20th reunion of the class, which was eons ago. I supposed most have moved on or want to forget about high school.
I'm glad you and +1 had fun at yours, Deb. I know you worked on it too.

Our 30th Class Reunion was last month. We didn't go. We went to our 10th and 20th but really didn't want to go again. Actually, if Andy was game, I would have but I didn't care too much about it. We had a huge class and I really didn't have any friends except for Andy, so there wasn't anyone I was wanting to see.

Pump came off today, that's 9 rounds complete, 3 to go for this cycle. The side effects are hitting hard, so I'll probbly be spending a fair amount of the weekend crashed in my recliner. If I'm up to it I might be baking bread Saturday, but there's no schedule to get that done and it can always wait for a day when I'm feeling better.
One thing I'll be enjoying is one of my 200g sample boxes of the most wonderful chocolate in the world. These are not to be simply chewed up like a chocolate bar. Taking small bites and allowing the chocolate to melt on the tongue, savoring the interplay of flavors is the best way to eat these. I find that each chocolate can last me 10 minutes or so that way. What a piece of heaven... *sigh*
The website is here:
Samaki Fine Chocolates
It's a small one-person operation, a friend from the cooking forum I participate on. She's in Lethbridge, Alberta, and for those in the US ordering from her direct is difficult due to the high expense of shipping from Canada to the US. It can easily double the price of the order. She recently began selling them through Formaggio Kitchens in Cambridge, MA, as mentioned on the front page of her website. That's where I get mine from, I just call them up and place my order, and it's here in 2-3 days.
I have to tell you, these are not your normal chocolates or bon-bons. Finely crafted, with some unusual flavor combinations. If you love chocolate, give them a try.
I have no association or interest in this business, I'm just a very highly satisfied chocoholic.

So what are you up to this weekend, Lainey?
This is us, Christa is coming, Christa is coming!

I think we're both going to be nursing colds.
Rick is hoping for a break in the weather as there is lots of yard work that needs to be done, and some dirty cars in need of a wash.
I'll do some yardwork with him if he wants "help" and I'm sure there's plenty to do in the house too.
Enjoy your weekend with your daughter.
