Oh well. Hats off to Harrington - he played the course as he found it and definitely deserved to win.

A shame Norman lost, but he still did well, all things considered. I wouldn't have been anywhere near the fairway, much less a green, with that wind.

The wife and I played in Bermuda a around 2 years ago in weather conditions like that on the par 3 at the Southampton princess.
Into the wind it was impossible to keep the ball down and with the wind almost impossible to gauge distance.
putting was just plain silly, missed a level 2 footer by 10 inches when the wind grabbed it.

A friend of mine volunteered at the U.S. Open in Merion and was allowed to play the next day after the tournament ended for free. He said you cannot appreciate how good the pros are until you try to get out of the rought set up for these majors. He just could not hit out of it and he is a fair player. Harrington was awesome on the back nine but hats off to the Shark for being able to compete in this event at 53 with not much competitive playing time.

I'm actually amazed that these guys can even play that much golf in four days.
I know 4 days of 18 and I'm pretty beat on the last day.

At least you'd be hitting out of the rough closer to the green.

I'd have asked if I could hit from the lady's tees.

ah come on guys you don't want to come play the tiger tees at the international near me.
they only play to 8375 yards. includes a 715 yd par 5. big drive, crushing 3 wood and a solid 5 iron will get you on in regulation.
oh and it's a hard course from the whites at 6,547.
you have to have the pros approval to play the tiger tees which have been called tiger tees for 30 + years. somebody was prescient.
