I doubt the dealer actually checks the pressure in your spare. I sort of have to lossen it and pull it back to get to the valve stem which I keep oriented toward the rear of the car so I can get to it. Since I have an amp mounted next to it, I can only pull it out so far without removing a couple of screws. I top mine off yearly. The first time I let someone use it after a few years in the trunk without checking, it was down to about 25 psi (should be 60). I top it off every spring and it is down around 45 usually. I would check yours if you haven't.

Thanks! I took your advice and checked my spare tire’s air pressure. It was 10 psi, a far call from 60 psi. Additionally, I was unable to loosen the wing screw without a wrench – something I would not have had on the road. I would like to confront dealership’s bluff, but I can already hear their rationale for the low pressure reading. My last service was in September of 2013.


I now wonder about the other vehicle checks.

you could always play gotcha and put it back to 10 psi the next time you go in and see what they come up with....

Checked the '00 spare... down to 5 psi!!

Checked the '09 Tribute spare.... down to 17.5 psi.....

Erik checked his '06 Cobalt spare..... no reading!

So...... at this time, all are at 55 psi!!

As a Daily Driver, hell no. To get you to a safe location if you drive reasonably slow. Heck yes.
