Sunscreen is important. However, as much as folks THINK they look healthy with a tan, even a tan obtained wearing sun screen is considered skin damage. While we get plenty of sun while walking, or riding in the convertible, living in the north east our sun exposure is nothing like those of you on the west coast. Rick makes sure to wear sunscreen even working in the yard, and always wears a baseball cap. We both put on the sunscreen before heading out for a top down drive. We no longer sit in the sun for the sake of sitting in the sun. Those days are gone and those are the days that likely caused the issues Rick is having.

I'm not sure what that means, but my dermatologist got it all. All healed up. just a scab.

Clear margins mean that the dermatologist got it all. I have an appointment in 1.5 hours. I'm not expecting anything to crop up. I have a bump on my left hand that he tried to freeze off last time and it's come back. I'll ask him to try again.

What are clear margins for skin cancer?
Based on the reviewed literature, we found that for primary well-demarcated BCCs smaller than 2 cm, in the low-risk group, a safety margin of 3 mm gives satisfactory results. In the high-risk group, and for lesions larger than 2 cm, a 4-6 mm margin is suggested for getting clear margins.

Since they did the Mohs on my left ear, when I am going to be outside for any duration now I've gone to a wide brim hat.
I used to wear golf caps but Dumbo still had his ears out soooo... all around wide brim expedition hat it is.

Good luck with that, Patty.

Good plan! A loose hat doesn't work with me driving my Vette with the top down. It will blow off. I always wear a baseball cap, though.

I had seven spots frozen on the backs of my hands and two biopsies. One biopsy was taken from that hand bump that came back. The other was from my upper left chest. He saw something but I doubt it's anything.
