Skin Cancer

Rick had his procedure done yesterday. I am amazed at how good the incision looks today. This plastic surgeon has mad sewing skills. There are sutures under the sutures, the top layer of them will dissolve but the incision already looks like a fine line. He sees the dermatologist next week for removal for one more basal cell on his leg. Rick worked at a local beach one summer....I'd bet the sunburns/skin damage of that year are a good part of what keeps showing up now.
Patricia, I sent you a pic. I know you like that stuff.
When is your appointment?

My Mohs is on October 15th. The doctor that's doing it is going to have me wear a bandage on it for 2 weeks that can't get wet. They'll look at the stitches after 2 weeks and see if it's ready to be free or covered up some more. Evidently, calf stitches are a bit tricky with thinner and tighter skin. Where is Rick's leg cancer?

First layer slice took it all with clear margins. Then she decided to let my body heal and not put stitches in. I was fine with that. Until this morning. The spot hurt which I figured was just the numbing shots worn off, but then, I felt wet. I threw back the covers and there was blood on the sheets and my knee pillow. I got up and was dripping like a faucet. The only thing I had was some stretchy bandage wrap so I wrapped that snuggly on top of the bloody mess of bandages. The office doesn't open until 8:00 AM so when I finish my whining here, and my coffee, I'll go show up at their door. I guess I need those stitches after all. I called the office to tell them.
**EDIT** The doctor's office called back and I have a 9:15 am appointment to get it stitched up. Yay!
10-15-202. Squamous cell cancer spot.
10-15-202. Squamous cell cancer spot after Mohs surgery. I wanted to hid this with the warning label but I don't know how to do that. Anybody know how?

Hope you are all set now, Patricia. Looks like a fair amount of bleeding you had going on.
Rick has had some issues with the scalp incision from his last procedure. It was fine with some antibiotic ointment on it. He had discontinued the ointment after two weeks. Hard to cover the area since it's in his scalp and there is "some" hair there. Anyway a couple mornings of blood on the pillow cases we called the doc. They suggested covering the incision and using the ointment again. So he sacrificed some hair and we've been keeping the incision covered. Originally, the doc's office told us it was nothing to worry about. Yesterday, I messaged them to tell them that the situation has improved. They messaged me back with an appointment. Rick is busy that day, so I told them I'd check back in later this week. The bandage was clear last night and again this morning. I'll message them again tomorrow with results. The wound looks OK, but I have been told scalp incisions can take longer to heal.

I don't think I used it correctly. I'll try again on my PC when I get home.

Patty.
https://www.amazon.com/Cohesive-Adhe...zcF9hdGY&psc=1
get yourself some of these and add them to your generic first aid kit with some of these
https://www.amazon.com/Band-Aid-Ster...s%2C143&sr=8-3
you won't fear bad bleedy things again.
Back when I was getting biweekly LDL apheresis I had to carry a kit in the car in case I sprung a leak in the car.

I ended up getting stitches inside and staples outside. This aught to work.
