Finally caught the feral mother! ...We think. Two-for-one deal in the trap early this morning, an adult and the last kitten from the latest brood. They're off to get fixed as I type, the adult will come back (will be an excellent hunter by now) while the kitten will be re-homed.
Hopefully this brings an end to the cycle of trapping/fixing/rehoming for a while. She had 9 kittens since December, in two broods. People just don't understand how quickly cats can proliferate if they're not fixed. Some townsfolk also seem to be under the illusion that dropping their unwanted, unfixed pets in the country means they'll have a wonderful, free, long life. In reality it'll be disease-and-parasite-ridden, brutal, and quite possibly short, depending on whose property they end up on.

^ you're right on that. I was at a friend's house and she was helping to re-home 5 kittens from a feral cat in her area, the mother of the litter was only 9 months old, at that rate who knows how many kittens she would have during her life.

I took Morgan to the vet for her monthly nail trim today. She's getting easier to get into her crate, as she lets me pick her up more often. We are in and out of there in less than ten minutes. She will need a little check up in the fall, so by then it shouldn't be an issue to schedule an actual appointment time. Right now I can bring her in pretty much anytime on a Wednesday as the tech is the one who trims Morgan's nails.

Most excellent. It's tough getting another pet after losing one. Clingy is a good thing I think, I love a good lap cat.

^ Thanks Sam. I forgot how much work it is having a young kitten as it has been a while, they keep you on your toes. We figure he was taken away from him mother a bit young, he doesn't know how to drink out of a water bowl, but he is eating like a little horse, lol. He is just starting to be comfortable with us , he was timid at first, but he is really getting active now exploring more areas of the home. Curious kittens are very funny to watch, running and jumping and entertaining themselves with anything they come across. Great fun.

Here is our grandcat on Father's Day. I think he is about 7 years old now.
His name is K.C., standing for Kit Cat. (They previously had a dog named Reese, so they kind of kept the candy bar theme for the name.)

^ We named our last cat "Hershey" as we rescued him as a kitten after visiting Hershey PA and the Hershey Chocolate center.
