I've had a rough past three days due to worrying about my darling girl, Talia. I took this photo of her on Sunday when she was fine.

10-4-2020.

I just set this text to my vet on Wednesday night:

"Please let Talia's vet know that she made turds last night, on Wednesday, Oct 7th at 10:30 p.m. I know this is a crazy text but I'm sure you understand. I'm thrilled to death because to me that means she's functioning enough that she can stay alive even if she can't walk very well. Just in case it's useful information I have the turds in the fridge to bring and I will see the vet at 10:20 in the morning on Thursday."

On Monday she did not want to get out of her heated cat bed. I got an appointment for the vet on Tuesday and they took x-rays and did blood tests. The blood tests were fine and the x-rays weren't perfect but they weren't alarming. She was given an appetite stimulant and I took her home with pain pills. I was gone all day Wednesday but when I left she was staying in her heated cat bed once again. When I got home she was in the kitchen even though she was dragging her rear end around and doing spins trying to move. She seemed rather hungry though, and ate and drank. I talked to the vet and it didn't sound very good. She really needed to be able to poo or she'd be done. I've never been so happy to see a cat crap in a box, before. She is sending the x-rays to the expert and having other vets look at it too. My understanding is that if she can poo she can live with a bad rear end. She still hasn't quite figured out wtf is happening. She tried to go down the stairs and kind of tumbled and then seemed to decide that maybe it was not such a good idea and she came back up.

^ very sorry to hear about this, I hope she can recover quickly. Her condition sounds very odd, hopefully the vet can figure it out soon. Good of you to be so kind to your cats and provide the care they need.

Patty, I'm so sorry to hear this. (Sleep would be gone) I hope they soon find the cause and are able to fix it.

Patty, could she have had some kind of stroke, or blood clot? Maybe lab work wouldn't show that? I hope you get some good news soon. Hugs.

Thank you for the kind words. Wednesday night I found her in my bedroom just laying there like she couldn't go any farther so I brought her heated bed in and put her in it. Today, Thursday, she has no control at all over her hind legs. She's still hungry so I used wet food to get her to come out from under the middle of my king-sized bed, close enough, so that I could pull her the rest, to get her to the vet. She uses her front paws to pull herself around with her hind legs poking forward under her bottom. Once I got her out, with some tail pulling I was glad that she didn't seem to mind and went back to finishing the food I had while I gently hugged her with my hands.

The vet kept her today and will call me at 3:30 PM. A tick can cause paralysis but the vet thinks it's very unlikely. They didn't find any ticks on her and it's not been seen in these parts. My neighbor had ticks on her dog. My daughter came up with that possibility as we are grabbing at straws.

Looks like several things could be causing weakness in the hind legs. I hope the vet can diagnose the problem and help your kitty.
