Poor Morgan, she had to improvise today. We were out and about for about 10 hours. Of all days for us to inadvertently deny Mogan access to her "facility" in the basement. Somehow the door got closed. When we got home I noticed the door to the basement was closed, and detected an odor.....then I stepped in...........Thankfully, Morgan improvised on a small washable rug.

I felt bad for her.

I'm concerned about that problem Lainey. I don't want 3 or 4 litter boxes around the house.
but I can easily see how the cats can get accidently closed in one of the rooms or the door to the litter box be closed.
Still sorting out where I'm going to put the litter robot.

Cat are easily trained. In the many years we have had a cat in our home, this has never happened before. You have a big house, but they will remember where the litter box is. Maybe a corner of the garage would be good with some kind of kitty door access. They say you should have one more litter box than you have cats. That would mean three boxes for two cats. We have just the one in the basement, put a second one out if we are away, even though we have someone stop by daily. Not sure how the litter robot works, but disposing of cat waste is a stinky issue. I use the litter genie. Think diaper genie. There is no odor coming from that. Apparently, the plastic bag that is the lining of the litter genie really blocks odors.

Litter robot detects when the cat has used the litter box.
When it has left the litter box it filters out the used media into a waste bin leaving only clean litter behind.
Plastic bags contain the waste for later removal. Via WIFI it notifies you when it time to empty the waste.
It also weighs your cats and so forth.

So, Lainey, your cat can't open doors???

This is our "grandcat," KC (KitCat). At the time, our daughter and family had a dog named Reese, as in Reese's Peanut Butter Cups because of her coloring. So, Reesie and KC.
