Precisely why I love and respect cats. They are independent and so am I. We understand each other. I loved my German Shepherd, Kyras, in a different way and more likely deeper. He wasn't independent but he was part of the family and protective.

So true. Most appropriate for our current cat, though she did sleep next to me for a good part of the night. Can't really kid myself, she just likes body heat.
