Paging Patricia, Paging Patricia.... or anyone else who has flying experience with pets
I assume you've flown with cats.
Do you have a preferred cat carrier? rigid or soft fabric?
Do you put an absorbing pad you put in the carriers for them to relieve themselves?
how does all of that work?

When taking a pet in a carrier, you either have to take the animal out and hold it ifor TSA and the screening machine or you ask for a private room where you take the animal out and they take the carrier back out to run through the xray machine. They bring it back and you put your animal back in the carrier. Dogs are easier, for sure, since people walk through the airports with them on leashes.
For me, the hardest part of it all was getting the cat into the carrier and then hoping it wouldn't meow it's head off. Leo was easy, Zion wasn't too loud but Talia meowed a lot on her flight from CA to CO. I gave them some gabapentin but I guess Talia still carried on but none of my close seat mates were annoyed. I asked them. I did tell people that I had a cat when they sat down next to me in case they were allergic.

Snoozer Backpack Carrier
^That's the red backpack carrier.
I keep the blue carrier out and Saint uses it during the day for a place to sleep.

The length of time my cats were caged wasn't long enough for it to become an issue. In my experience, cats a scared shitless so it's not a problem. When I drove Leo to and from CA from CO twice, I'd let him out and take his litterbox out. He never used it or would eat.
^3-28-2018 in a potty at Spotted Wolf Rest area in Utah on I-70 eastbound. He never used the litter box, drank or ate during a drive that lasted 10 hours. This trip was in my S2000 when I drove it from CA to keep in CO.

We once transported my daughters cat cross country, put her on a leash for potty breaks, she never went either.
