I had two short-haired dachshunds growing up - Wispy (Willow the Wisp) and Cammy (Cameo).

We had a toy dachshund when I was a teenager. like this one.
Henrietta Wadsworth Longfellow. or Hank for short.
I think she was 8 or 9 inches at her head about 14 long and had about a 1 inch ground clearance.
Poor German Shepard next door would damn near break his hips whenever she went into heat but that just wasn't meant to be.

Ziggy is a cutie. Luck too, cause she will be spoiled; for sure.

Yes he is a cutie and he uses that cuteness to manipulate me. Right now he weighs in at approximately 8 pounds and is 6 inches tall. His registered name is Siegfried Fritz Kaiser, Ziggy for short. I'm enjoying having a new companion a great deal. Bulldogs have always been my favorites and I've never owned a male puppy so this is a whole new world for me.

I hate people who suggest their kids are the smartest, most successful, best looking, or simply the greatest. No difference with dogs. But this damn Aussie we have continues to impress the hell out of me every day. I can’t even begin to explain it. We’ve had so many dogs I can hardly count them all. But here is a couple small examples from today - no leash, snow plow is tearing down the road, she goes to the side of the road to sit and waits till its gone all on her own . . . this is a dog who barks her butt off at the window when the same plow clears our road. Sure that’s what she was trained to do by my wife but she does it without commands of any kind. Or like tonight, I let her out at bedtime. She comes to me at the same time every night - 10:30pm – so I put her out. Tonight I came in; 10 minutes later I went outside again; told her it was bedtime and go potty . . . sure enough she goes down the path we shoveled, did her business and then came back. Back in she waits for me to tell her to go to bed. Then she went upstairs on her own to her own bed.

^ LOL. She does know some already. If I am tired of tossing her a toy to catch I put my hand up and do a slow wave and she knows I am done. She then takes the toy to the wife to toss.

Our 9 month old Bunker just had his neutering procedure as required by the purchase contract. He is doing fine, but hates the plastic cone on his neck. It’s awkward for an active guy. He has to wear it for a total of 10 days…

Poor puppy. I've seen some soft collars that serve the same purpose. Think neck pillow that people use on airplanes. Try Amazon if interested.
