I'm sorry to hear that news Patty. It's awful to be on final watch.

Yep, that's what it is. I am doing okay though since I know he's had a good long life.

I got home and Zoro surprised me by coming to the door. Yes, he's super skinny but he did eat some wet food. Today is not his last day. May be this week. I checked into places and have chosen the vet I'll take him to when I hold him for his last breath. For now, I'm going to go sit outside on my swinging bench, with him on my lap and enjoy him. Here are two photos from today.

^July 15, 2013. Jerry (Spokes Man) gave me a ride home from the airport and took this photo for me. He knows Z-Man, as he likes to call him, very well.

^July 15, 2013. My skinny lover boy, kitty.

Glad he ate and you're having some cuddle time with him.

I am taking Zoro in today to euthanize him. I had a wonderful night with him purring, snuggled up under my chin, as he loves to do. He's just too far gone. He can't navigate around the house. I carried him to the water bowl and he did drink some but he's so dehydrated that when I took him to the cat box, he tried to go but had nothing. He's laying outside in his favorite spot. I'm not sad. I'm sure I'll shed some tears once he's gone but I'll be okay.

Patty, I know it's hard to hold them at the end. I wish you comfort. You have a good attitude. You and Zorro were lucky to have each other.

Thank you, Dean. It's amazing how much life he's been around for. Christa was 10 years-old, and Kyle was 8, when we brought Zoro home. Christa is 26 and Kyle's almost 25, now. I never had any pet so so many years. Oh, he's on his way to my lap, right now. He loves to sit on my lap when I'm on the computer. He's wobbly.

To let go of a member of the family after 16.5 years is never easy. Zoro RIP.

Zoro (Z-Man) is the most regal and loving cat I have ever known. I've been around cats all my life, but Zoro is special because he allowed me to be his friend. I'll never forget how he would press his head against my chest and purr when I held him. Although he lost his eyesight awhile back, he still navigated quite well by using his sense of smell and hearing...even catching unsuspecting prey at times! He's been a lesson in perseverance and grace as he has aged, and I would only hope to do as well. You've given him a good home, Patty, and I'm sure the Z-Man will always be "with" you. Thanks for letting me hold him one last time.

I'm sure Zoro has a good spot waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge.

Take care, Patty.
