Our little Border Terrier is soon going to be 16. She is still like a puppy sometimes, but she is slowing down, and her age is showing...

Sydney our second Lakeland Terrier is coming up on her 15th Birthday and is definitely slowing down and has doggie dementia (CCD). Maggiemae the original Lakie lived to 17.5. Both dogs have been great but like people totally different personalities. Maggie was an alpha whereas Syd is very laid back Terrier. She was used as a host dog at the Doggie Hilton and unless you were a Squirrel she rarely showed any aggression. Maggie was game to take on anything from rodents to large dogs/coyotes.

No change. My eye thing will drag out for another 30 days due to the second eye. When that's done I will pick it up again.

Good luck with that. Second eye is tomorrow? No third eyes to be done?

Thelma will have blood work tomorrow, her procedure likely next week. I told the vet if she had told me 20 years ago that we'd be having a cat's teeth cleaned I would have laughed. I just don't want to end up with a $3000.00 cat.

My sister had a dog that got hit by a car. They told her the fact the dog was wagging her tail was a good sign as to nerve damage, etc. Who knows how much she spent on that dog? After many visits, and casting, and whatever else, the dog ended up with an amputation and lived a good 10-12 years after the accident. However had my sister known how much $ she'd be dishing out, she might have made a different choice after the accident. It's easy to start out with a small procedure, and hard to know when to say enough when it's the family pet.

Yes, it also seems like every time I have to take Tara to the vet, they find things that "need to be done", and the bill is always a goodly sum!

When dog and cat bills get into the stratosphere of horses I'll sympathize with you all.

Thankfully, we never purchased a horse! My former boss had a couple, well his wife and daughter did and they got into competitive riding/competitions. He used to watch the $ fly out of the window, all for a . He was no unhappy when they moved on from horses.

The best horse, like the best boat, is one that belongs to a friend who shares the joy and not the bills. Speaking of Bill...we like his boat (s).

Great line. The best horse, like the best boat, is one that belongs to a friend who shares the joy and not the bills. I have not heard that one before.

I spent Donna a link to a video of a soldier being welcomed home by her golden retriever. She keeps playing it on her phone. I think she is ready to spend a couple grand a get one of the smaller breeds of Golden.
