I often think that Thelma will be our last cat. When we travel I don't like being away for more than 8-10 days as any absence requires a pet sitter, etc. I'm also get tired of having a litter box, even if I do have in the basement. Thelma is only 9, and being an indoor cat I'd expect she'll be around for a while. And I do like having a cat around, with the exception of cat puke and a litter box.

I keep pushing the wife about getting another dog. Our dog of choice would certainly be a Golden Retriver but our last experience with lifting a larger dog into the car for a Vet visit showed us we had to find a small dog this time. When we were in Iowa we saw one we thought would be great. A mix called a Bernedoodle. We would be interested in a miniature Bernedoodle. They start in the 20# range and go up.
The bernedoodle is a cross between a Bernese mountain dog and a poodle. This hybrid blends the clever goofiness of the poodle with the placid loyalty of the Bernese. What's more, the bernedoodle is low- to non-shedding, and is a safe bet for most people with allergies.
But then we saw the price tag for one.

That looks like it could still be a big dog? It's cute! You could always head over to the dog shelter.....
