My wife took a knock to the head a few days ago when we were moving a calf shelter with the tractor, and woke up yesterday not feeling well at all, so it's up to me to keep the household moving. Hard to move stuff around with no free hands so I've abandoned my crutches and I'm relying on hobble-walking everywhere. Thankfully my son is able to do the school run now, and my daughter stepped up to do their lunches yesterday. I took care of dinner last night and the washing and their lunches this morning but I'm making do with comfort food for myself for the day since I still have to do my desk job. I think one of the cattle has broken through a temporary fence into a pre-grazed paddock but she can stay there for now to teach her to obey the wires. I'm also having to do the hay sales
Times like this make me realise just how co-dependent we are. My wife is tucked up in bed watching reruns of Frasier while I should probably be planning dinner. I'm also having to handle the hay sales, lifting 50lb bales probably isn't the best thing for me but we have to keep up the business. Busy times.

Matt, that's a tough life you've picked. My wife very likely would have been good at it and enjoyed it but definitely not me.

Matt, did you wife get checked out after getting hit in the head? I hope she's feeling better soon and you too!

Thanks. I'm working on persuading her but she's a tough nut to crack, no pun intended. She had a tumor removed from her head about 13 years ago and has lived with headaches ever since, but every time she hits her head (which is sadly quite often) it seems to affect her more than it should. We had to fight tooth and nail just to get them to look for the tumor in the first place, it was an intensely annoying time.

I'm guessing you must have some good dental insurance? My implant with bone grafting and including the cap will total just over $6K, and from what I heard that is less $ than others in my area have spent. The oral surgeon did my bone graft at the same time as extraction, then four months later the implant, etc. The cost is spread out a bit with time needed in between procedures. My dentist does offers to break up the cost of the cap into 5 or 6 monthly payments to the credit card account. Takes a little bit of the sting out of spending that much $ for one tooth, but worth it to me.

they tend to wake up a lot when they realize you can build a legal culpability from those notes.

For the rest of s2k and Matt, When you have a hard time with a doctor ask to review their notes of symptoms and complaints with them before you leave the office since you want to make sure you have a consistent understanding of conditions and you would like a printed copy.

We have private medical insurance to speed up access to specialist healthcare because going through the public system can take a very long time. I had my kidney stones out within 2 weeks of a confirmed diagnosis, whereas it could have been 6 months or more if I had to go public.

In my case, the failed tooth was one that had basically deteriorated from inside out. I had a ridge in the tooth for years, near the gum line. Filling it was not recommended. There is a theory that the tooth may have been damaged due to orthodontic work I had done at age 25. Who knows...these things happen. I do have other fillings, caps/crowns, that I keep my fingers crossed hoping they don't fail.
There was no fluoride treatments or sealants for molars when we were kids. My son has one filling in his entire mouth. I don't know if he knows how lucky he is!
