My sister (the one who just passed) used to like to help me spend my money when were were shopping. In her honor, (I know that's an excuse) I decided to order a new camera. I've been thinking about it for a while. I'm sticking with crop sensor, and not going to mirrorless. Too many changes with either of those that I don't want to make and don't care to spend the money on.

Canon still sells the EOS 90D. It's been around for a few years already, but it's a newer model than what I have, and it is an upgrade. I used my newer (purchased in 2018) camera today. I will not get beyond all the stuff in the viewfinder,(mentioned elsewhere) even if it does not affect my pics. I will spend more $ and send that one to Canon for that issue. I like having two camera bodies so I'm not constantly switching lenses. I may sell my oldest camera, but not sure yet.

Life is short. Spend your money.

I'm sure she would be happy for you. You are right, life is short and you should enjoy it while you can, plus your photos bring use all so much joy!

I destroyed the transmission in my old Dewalt cordless drill over the weekend while hanging farm gates. This requires me to bore a 20mm (slightly over 3/4in) hole through a 10 inch thick, pressure-treated post, and the drill finally cried enough after years of abuse, to the point I've had it smoking a couple of times.

I took Lainey's advice and decided to go for whatever the best (and most expensive) replacement option was - I've been chained to Dewalt batteries for about 20 years now so that limited options somewhat. The two largest hardware chains both have price match guarantees where if the other lists it cheaper then they'll beat that price and drop another 15% off again, so I made a tidy $US70 saving as well as getting a shiny new power tool.

I found Dave's fantasy panel

The wind is HOWLING! I did my Y thing this AM, there will be no outdoor activities this afternoon. Dust bunnies are calling to me. However, my new camera is supposed to arrive this afternoon. I hope it arrives soon so I can put off the cleaning for another day.

You got that right Lainey, you know that freight train folks talk about?
There are times when having your house surrounded by 60-80 ft trees is not very comforting.
I'm awfully glad that they don't have leaves on them now.

Well the camera showed up, but not before I was able to exterminate dust bunnies and do other assorted tasks around the house.

Got the camera set up, mostly. By the time I was done, there was no decent light but I was able to snap a couple test shots. I'm old school and still connect the camera to a cable to transfer pics to the PC. Canon Utility program recognizes the camera and which photos have not yet been downloaded. Of course, previous cables don't work and no cable included with the camera. I was able to get the photos on to my iphone, but didn't luck out with wifi on the PC I'll have to find out which cable I need and maybe pick up a card reader tomorrow.

I just got the green light to toss the Oh-My-God-I-Hate-It Sling in the garbage. Finally, I hope to sleep more than an hour and half. I have to do dozens of repetitious motion things daily for two weeks, then real physical therapy for the shoulder starts for 6 weeks.
