I got a text from my cousin last night. His dad, my mom's younger brother, is going into hospice care. He's 84
I forwarded it up to my brother, and he replied that his mother in law recently got a stage 4 cancer diagnoses. She'll be 92 in august if she gets there.
Very soon there will be no elders. My wife has one remaining aunt. I'm down to 4.

My wife and I have no aunts or uncles left, parents gone. On my side, immediate family, I think my sister is the eldest, and she is just 28 months ahead of me. I only have three cousins older than myself. This getting old sucks.

We lost the last of my Mom and Dad's generation about two years ago. My father's sister in law. She was a favorite among us.

My oldest cousin will be 80 next year. We've already lost three of our generation. Two cousins and my sister.

Getting old does have it's drawbacks.....

I never had any aunts, uncles, or cousins. Both of my parents were only children. My father passed away in 1984, my mother in 1999.

I was the second oldest of five daughters.

My oldest sister passed away in 2004.

One of my younger sisters (a twin) passed away in 2022.

So, I have been the oldest left for almost 20 years.

Yes, nurses are very important! I think being a nurse is a very hard job.

And, I think that they often do not get the appreciation that they deserve.

This week is also Teacher Appreciation Week. Also a hard job.

It takes a lot of patience (patients) to be a good nurse.

I think most people have a story where a nurse and or teacher has affected their lives in a positive way.

There are eight nurses at my infusion center and I have had every one attend to me at one time or another. But one really stood out for me. Yesterday at my infusion they were celebrating all the nurses with an emphasis on her, as today is her last day. She is moving out of state. I will really miss her.

Our granddaughter got her degree today. Will be an RN soon. My sister is also a nurse. Nurses are very smart people!
