Curious as to what you folks think.

PS we're not rich.
Congratulations to your granddaughter! Wasn't she just born a few years ago?

No clue.

Why don't you just ask your granddaughter?

I'd say the monetary value would be secondary to the thought and love you put into the purchase. A well-chosen reasonably-priced gift she can have and hold for the rest of her life will always be more valuable to her than a high-priced trinket.

For example, my daughter wants to become a large animal vet (horses, cows etc), so I'd look at something like a very high quality vet's stethoscope. Then I'd chuck in a box of long vet's gloves and make a Dad joke about giving her a hand when she's elbow-deep in her work.

Nice thought..I would not know what to buy her. She's going to need a new car to drive to her new job (she hopes) about 45 minutes away. I'm thinking she'd appreciate cold hard cash.

Had my quarterly teeth cleaning today. In addition to the usual 'water boarding' they added a new one, laser rays for the gums, claiming it reaches places the usual stuff can not.

I would guess somewhere between 100 and 500 dollars.

Yep....that's my thought. We are leaning between $300.00 and $500.00. I don't think I'd give any less than $100.00 to other family members if they were graduating from college, so certainly a granddaughter gets more....Of course we could just put some of the receipts from the money we dished out to keep that VW running in a card. You know, the VW we "suggested" was not a good idea. She is graduating with high honors, (just a fraction of a point from highest honors), so maybe that's worth a few extra bucks too, she's worked hard!

I bought a new pair of sneakers yesterday, I wear size 13 4E so I’m limited to my choices but went with a pair that I have had before that are comfortable but they did tend to squeak.
