Yeah this boy is still maturing, he's only 2 and a half. He'd gain another 1,000lb or so before he's fully grown but he'll be steak and burgers well before then. Haven't seen him jump, really don't want to see him try since our fences are 4ft. I have a lot of respect for farmers who handle the fully grown stud bulls.

Mind you, one of our cows cleared a 4ft fence when she was 8 months pregnant.

This is a fully grown Simmental bull - they are polled (de-horned) for safety, or some have been bred to be naturally polled (don't grow horns):

We had an energy audit done on our home this afternoon. The guy is writing up a report now. Not sure why it takes as long as it does, but he told us about 45 minutes for the report. Checked attic insulation, basement, heating system for proper air flow and efficiency, etc.

I was surprised he didn't seem to check doors/windows for drafts. Got a couple free power strips, new and improved. A different aerator for bathroom faucet, offer of low flow shower head (no thanks). We'll see what else is suggested. It did appear we could use more insulation in the attic, we do have some in the walls, but perhaps could use more.

There are companies they work with who can do any suggested work and as far as insulation, I think we'd only pay 75% of the cost. We'll see...........

Huge rebates and no cost loans on heat pumps now, but would we live long enough to get a return on our money?

I'm using way more water softener salt than formula's suggest for two people. So I paid $49 for water test and so-called-tune up. Best I can tell at this point he was just one slick sales person (I don't want to use the term con man but it could fit) who wanted to charge triple the rate to replace the resin or double the rate for a new softener. I have an appointment for Thursday with a company I have more trust in for a followup.

I got the main large driveway shoveled tonight. Still have the MG driveway to do. Watching Donna doing both drives last winter was the primary reason I had ankle surgery. Mission accomplished.

How does the ankle feel after your workout?

Didn't hurt when I was doing it. But it did for at least 2 hours after. All good now. As they always say, getting old is not for wimps.

Doing a little extra cleaning in the guest room today. I rarely have guests, last time was in October and I know I washed linens after that. However, I took all linens off the bed, tossed them in washer and dryer, gave the swiffer and dust cloth and furniture polish a little workout.

The room is ready for my sister from SC who will arrive Monday and head home the following Sunday. So looking forward to sister time. She's bringing some cold weather with her, but thankfully, no storms appear to be on the horizon.

Had a great time having my sister visit us. However she developed on nasty cold while here. Her hubby had a bad cold before she left, not sure if that's the germs that made their appearance. She tested for Covid both at home and here. Nothing. She's still coughing and dragging a bet a week later.

It appears she left some of the germs behind. Rick started with minor sniffles two days ago, this afternoon, he is in bed napping. Can't remember the last time he took a nap, in bed! I've got a few minor sniffles and a little cough. Hoping my asthma doesn't get pissed off, but not holding my breath. Don't want to do that, I might cough.
