Our house doesn’t feel small until the winter holidays when everything movies inside. Even though I’m not feeling that good I completely dismantled my art room to make room for my granddaughters to sleep. Relocating the drafting table was a real PIA. I thought they would be sleeping downstairs . . . . nope, not on Xmas eve when they still believe in Santa. Really!! Ages 10 and 6. I doubt it but their parents say they still believe.

How old were your kids before they figured it out?

Six year old still believes. Ten year old likely suspicious but may not reveal suspicions due to fear over fewer presents.
If I recall, Ally was about eight.

Feel better

I'm going to guess at about 8 and 9. I always used different wrapping paper for presents from Santa. One of the two found the hidden wrapping paper and figured it out. They weren't happy. Then I was asked if the Easter bunny was a lie too.

Our daughter was very young when she figured out Santa Claus.

When she was not quite 3 years old, we were waiting outside in line to attend a chili supper at her older brother’s school. There was someone dressed up as a bear. Our daughter was crying because she was afraid of the bear. I told her that it was not a real bear, that it was just someone dressed up as a bear.

Then, at Christmas, when she was just over 3 years old, she asked if Santa Claus was just someone dressed up! I ignored her question!

At Easter, she asked if the Easter bunny was just someone dressed up.

By the next Christmas when she was 4 years old, an older neighbor girl told her that there was no Santa Claus and that it was just your parents. So now our daughter really believed that. I told her not to tell her older brother, who was 3 1/2 years older, because he still believed.

So, one day she said to him, “Chris, you see Santa Claus every day. You just do not recognize him.”

By that time our son was 7 1/2, still acting as if he believed, but probably getting suspicious. I guess by the next Christmas when he was 8 1/2, he no longer believed.

After 10 days with little improvement Donna insisted I go to the doctor and made me an appointment. They took blood samples and lung x-rays. TBD. Took a Covid test yesterday which was negative.
