We've done well at avoiding tourists spots during the crowded summer months. We also planned our vacations for slightly off season...We've made some recent day trips to Cape Cod, MA and have enjoyed getting around without a ton of traffic.
Today we decided to go to RI to Fort Adams. It's a lovely spot on the water (Newport RI). We have already toured the inside of the Fort which was very cool, so today we just wanted to walk and enjoy the scenery and great weather. Our route took us through downtown Newport RI. WTH? Apparently, there was a seafood festival. People and traffic everywhere. Got through that to arrive at Fort Adams only to find out there was a food truck festival happening there. . More traffic, more people and we quickly turned around.
We did manage a few other stops in some lovely areas and still enjoyed the weather and top down time. Note to self: Google the tourist areas before heading over and ASSuming it's late enough in the season that it won't be a sea of humanity!

I got lucky today on my drive I had pretty much open road headed to my destination although I did get stuck behind a Tesla alternating between 30 and 19 m.p.h. and then drifting over to the oncoming lane for a bit I just hung back for a bit and eventually they turned off to another road. Had another car pull over and let me go by.
