I'm hearing that the Bears are up and about and they are hungry of course, going after bird feeders.

Anybody ever hear of a general sales tax? I bought a sub today from subway and noticed on the receipt there was a charge for 1.00 and it said general sales tax 10%. Never heard of such a thing.

I'd bet they goofed and put it in a generic item instead of food.

I checked the receipt from when I went a couple of weeks ago and it is the same as the one I got today. 9.99 for the sub and then 1.00 and to the left of the dollar it says General Sales Tax (10%)

Counties and cities in Vermont are allowed to charge an additional local sales tax on top of the Vermont state sales tax, with 10 cities charging the additional 1% local sales tax.

Restaurants are charged at a 9% sales tax rate (plus a 1% local sales tax in certain cities), and all alcoholic beverages have a 10% sales tax rate (plus a 1% local sales tax in certain cities). The purchase of any motor vehicle is subject to the standard state sales tax of 6%, and short-term car rentals are taxed at 9%. Additional excise taxes apply to purchases of gasoline, cigarettes, and other goods.

Have to post this!

Delaware sales tax basics

The Delaware (DE) state sales tax rate is currently 0%.

Delaware does impose a “…gross receipts tax on the seller of goods (tangible or otherwise) or provider of services in the state.”

Delaware was listed in Kiplinger’s 2011 10 tax-friendly states for retirees. One main benefit noted by Kiplinger was no state sales tax. Not all states with no sales tax were included in the list because of income taxes and property taxes.
