So that is what keeps us young! Gene, that certainly applies to my better half. For me it might be burger, beam, and bright skies for top down!

My naughty Maury was a little brat tonight. I was trying to get him inside for two hours but he kept running off when I'd open the door that he seemingly wanted to come in. I finally saw him again at a third door and he just sat there when I opened it. A flashlight revealed his catch; another vole. He caught one about 2 months ago.

Our grandson turns 15 tomorrow. We had him over for lunch. Hot dogs and oven potato chips and a little ice cream. I offered to buy him a cake but he didn't care about cake. I think he liked the $ I put in a card for him.
We tried to get him to go for a ride to RI to the Newport Auto Museum. He does have some interest in cars, and he was tempted by the offer, but not sold on it. Like a lot of kids he stays up late, sleeps late and he does have soccer drills/tryouts tonight so I think he wanted to be lazy this afternoon.
I entertained him a bit and dragged out his Dad's report cards. They were not the greatest as his Dad struggled in school, but I also had some (now) amusing notes from a couple of teachers. I think Ryan wanted some ammunition in case he gets a bad grade, but I told him that was not the deal!
Meanwhile, the granddaughter's VW needs a head gasket. A nice cheap part....................but the labor. If it were possible to get a decent used car with low miles for not a lot of cash, it would be time to dump this car. But, used cars that aren't junk are scarce and very pricey. So I guess the car will be repaired. They/we keep hoping that all the bad stuff has been fixed. Her headlights were flickering too. If it needs the ballast assembly thing they are over $500.00 each.
I believe she has really learned a lesson about purchasing a VW. Though the lesson hasn't been too painful since she hasn't paid for the repairs. We have often shared the cost of the repairs with her parents. Kind of a contribution to her education as she needs a car for college as she lives at home. She works enough hours to pay her car insurance $$$ and have spending $.

Lainey if your grandson likes video games maybe mention to him that they have racing simulators at the Newport Car Museum.
It's too bad about the problems with the Virtually Worthless um, I mean Volkswagen.

Back in 2013 the cost was $1,500 to replace the cylinder head on our 2008 Subaru Outback which only had 62k miles. Subaru ate half of that and my out of pocket was $825. The cost of headlight assemblies these days are insane.

Yep. Quote was $1600.00 from the mechanic Rick likes and trusts. He had to do some research as far as tooling to determine if he can do the job. I can't imagine the price if it has to go to a dealer. Oh, the boyfriend has two Subarus. She thinks she wants a Subaru next. That's OK, hopefully by the time that happens, she'll have a full time job and will be paying for her own mistakes. It will then be her brother's turn for help with car/school expenses. What you do for one.............

Even though I own one Lainey I don't think Subaru is much better than the VW.

We had one too, Rob. Only because the dealership Rick worked for had a store with them. We already had a Jeep and he needed a commuter car. We kept it for about 78K (I think) I don't think we had any issues with it at all. Rick never felt the Subaru
