Car dealers crack me up. I took my WRX in for an oil change yesterday and the last few times I have had it in they told me I should have the cabin filter changed but it is something I can do myself so I told them no. When I made the latest appointment the service advisor said I was due to have the cabin filter changed but I told him I had just done it last month. When I brought it in I ended up with a different service advisor and when it was done he went over the checklist and said that the cabin air filter is dirty and needs to be changed. I told him I had just replaced it but he kept going down the checklist. After saying 3 times I just replaced it he finally started to listen to me and said that sometimes if you don't clean it out when you replace it, it gets dirty again. LOL . They have a price list on the wall and I noticed that it is 69.95 to replace the cabin filter so it must be a good money maker for them. I bought one for less than 20 bucks and it took me about 10 minutes to change it. I did finally get a new valve stem cap they had one in stock luckily, they are taller than the standard ones due to the tire pressure sensors.

^ robb, you are more patient than me. I would have asked to speak to the Service Mgr, then the Store Mgr if needed. And, no matter the outcome I would have posted the incident on their web page.

LOL It was the service manager that I was dealing with and I know the general sales manager I used to work with him at another dealership. I hear what you are saying Dave but I have found in the past that posting negative reviews does absolutely nothing. I didn't post my whole conversation with the service manager but I definitely spoke up. You can't give an inch when dealing with car dealers.

Robb.
I would simply ask " I'm sorry are you F'ing deaf?"
The good news is my service guys know me very well and no better than to try that crap.

Got a new car for Shelley on December 17th at Jeff Wyler Toyota. I was promised the documents will be mail to me before year end. To date, I got nothing from them, just a title from the state a few weeks ago. Texted the sales guy a few time but no reply. This is probably due to the fact that I declined all of their up sale when I pickup the vehicle. Oh well....

This old saying is still true. "Sales sells the first car, service sells the second." If a customer is put off by all the upsell of the service department or other BS, the next time they want a new car, they may buy elsewhere. All of these service reps/writers, etc are now getting small base pay and commission, so they really push the service options. It's a "dog eat dog" job in many of the dealerships, especially the larger ones. Not enough upsell happening, they toss you out the door and bring in someone else. Thankfully the dealership Rick retired from was small, and still had a personal touch.

^ For sure, I drove 1.5 hours away to buy the Honda rather than buy from the Honda dealer only a mile away.
