Our cars never really shut off. the computers are always on but mostly in a sleep mode.
BUT, when it detects the key in the car it wakes everything up to be ready to go.
My son left the keys in the GL450 and killed the battery in two days.

So even if it only going to be a week or so without driving I try and put them on a battery tender.
So even if it will start it lost a lot of capacity while it was sitting.
The deep cycling will just kill a battery.

I left dashcam plugged in and found out hard way that battery drains out if you don't drive the car for a week. I had to jump start on several occasions. Now, I know to unplug it if I don't intend to drive for a few days.

If I forget to unplug my GPS and don't put the tender on the battery goes dead in two days.

My SL550 was in the garage 22 days and the key was in the bedroom, other side of house, while we were on our Asia cruise. Started right up when I got home. Was always in the off position though.

I was working for a gm dealer when the corvette c6 came out and I remember it had the keyless start system and in order to deactivate it you had to put the car in reverse, on the manual cars, and if you didn't it would stay active and drain the battery right away.

So I go to hop in the S this morning and I notice a 14 inch crack in the windshield that was not there yesterday I called Hagerty and they started a claim and are going to have an adjuster call me Monday. I'm pulling a Rockford trying to figure out how this happened. It goes from the base of the windshield at an angle about halfway up. One thing I'm thinking is that right near the point that it stops halfway up the windshield I had a chip repaired a long time ago so maybe that had something to do with it. It's very strange as their isn't any point of impact it is more like a crack from some kind of stress.
In any case I had a great ride in the car put over 50 miles on it and it ran great. I filled it up with non-ethanol which is still not cheap 2.84 per gallon and gave it a good solid run. I still find myself liking 5th over 6th on our 2 lane highways, funny how that was always the case. I gave her a bath and the old girl is resting now.

It could but we have temp swings all the time and it never happened before but it could be, there is a first time for everything.

Sometimes the driver's door doesn't latch all the way on my old old Accord. If I cover the car up without noticing this, the battery will drain in a week or so. Since I don't daily drive this car, sometimes I have a little trouble getting into reverse until I remember that you have to push down on the shifter to bypass the reverse lockout. Those of us with real talent don't need all the new car gadgets to screw up.
