SF route from northwest PA ?
Current plans are to visit my parents graves in my hometown of Oil City in NE PA. After that I am at a loss trying to decide what route to take.
Maybe go east on I-80 and then SW on I-99. What I've driven of I-80 has been good; I've never been on I-99.
Or, go west on I-80 and then south on I-79 and then pickup PA turnpike (I-76). That runs into all the Pittsburgh traffic and the last time I drove the turnpike there was lots of construction and we hated it...... that was in the S2000. This time we will be in the MG. Can anyone tell me what the condition of PA turnpike is these days?
Or I could take Route 8 south towards Butler and work my way SE on roads like Route 422, etc. I would much rather take backroads than expressways; however, sometimes they can add so much driving time it doesn't work out given the distance we are coming from in a 50 year old car.
Any suggests are welcomed!

I have no desire to drive the PA Tpk even in the best of times. What a CF!

That's my plan unless I hear of a nice alternative less-traveled route. For example, Route 6 that runs across the top of PA is a nice route for someone going to Corning, NY and on to Watkins Glen.

There is a lot of construction from mile marker 38 down to the Ohio line but from where you will be getting on the PA tpke is in pretty good condition to Breezewood. My suggestion is to take the turnpike to the Irwin exit and follow Route 30 into Breezewood. You'll pass Shanksville and Rt. 30 is a real nice drive. If you would like to meet let me know what day/time your planning to leave. We live right off of the Tpke at the Harmar exit, Exit 47?

As someone who grew up in NW PA, I can heartily recommend some of the roads in the area for exercising an S2K. Route 27 from Titusville to Meadville for instance. Then again route 8 from Oil City to Titusville is fun too.
