Sorry if this has already been discussed, but are there any organized plans for Saturday other than the drive? There is a chance I may not be able to do the drive and if I do, Elaine (+1) may want to stay back and tour the area.

MsPerky (Deb) is going to tour the battlefield (I believe) along with Rick and Lainey.

 

Yep...Vito and I will be getting to the hotel about 10 on Sat, checking in (if possible), then heading down to Antietam from there. It is 13 miles south of Hagerstown in Sharpsburg. The drive around the battlefield is 8.5 miles and has 11 stops - probably will take a couple of hours depending on how many stops are made. He may want to make most of them, since he's a Civil War buff and has not been there before. If you want to meet us at the hotel, we can all caravan down together and then each tour at his own pace. Want to be back by 2 to meet up with the buds, since we will not be there Fri night.

 

We're not in the tour. We're in for the drive.

We may do the battlefield tour as well. Is the lunch place near the battlefield? Just wondering if it is possible to go to the battlefield and then meet the drive group for lunch.

As I said above, Antietam is 13 miles south of Hagerstown. So not that far to get back for lunch. The battlefied opens at 8:30 AM, but we will not be there that early. I'm shooting for 10:30. It's about 1.5 hours to drive up from DC. What time is lunch? We may be able to get up there and tour Antietam earlier, then meet everyone at Bulls and Bears, even if we are not eating with the group.

 

Lunch will be served as the different drive groups come in, anytime from approximately 12:00 to 1:30 or so. We will be eating in a private room on the 2[sup]nd[/sup] floor. There is a parking garage behind the restaurant; though its entrance is kind of hard to spot. From the drive directions:

Enter downtown Hagerstown from the Dual Highway (Rt. 40) that the Hampton Inn is on. Approximately 2 miles from the Hampton,

LEFT on Potomac St.

LEFT on E. Antietam St. You should immediately see the

parking garage sign on your left at Cramer Alley.

LEFT at Cramer Alley to Parking Garage. Alley may

be difficult to see. Park on 4[sup]th[/sup] level and enter

BULLS & BEARS through the green door close

to E. Antietam St.
