I don't mind subtle fragrance, but the overpowering stuff
My Mom is 84. She gets into my car in a cloud of "French lady" (also known as cheap) perfume. It does nothing for me.

Fortunately, for my pocket book, I find the natual oils in perfumes are more likely to trigger an allergic reaction.
I can buy my wife the cheap stuff but the expensive stuff will stop my breathing.
In choir if one of the fancy ladies sits near me I have to move.
I cannot enter one of those candle or scent stores. Scent allergies are way up nationally due to the increased level of pollutants irritating our breathing ways. It just makes it easier to carry us over the edge when you encounter other scents.
I feel about the scents kinda like I do about cigarettes. If you can smoke it/wear it under a bell jar so it doesn't affect anyone but you then go ahead, otherwise I feel dropping my drawers and taking a leak on you would be less offensive. Heck letting a big ol juicy fart in a crowded elevator is less dangerous to your health and less offensive than a cigarette smoker getting in and letting his/her clothes pollute the air.
It's a shame that there are never any posts that I have an opinion on in Vintage.

Wildncrazy, I take it you voted, NO?
Depending on the scent, I can have a scented candle burning in the other room, but often not the room I'm in. I prefer food/fruit smells over flowery smells, and the scent can't be overpowering. I can spend a lmited time in a scented candle store and I can't tolerate those "pine tree" or any kind of air refreshers in cars
Certain smells really get to me. They make me cough.
I was not always this delicate. Not sure when that happened.

You never come visit us anymore.
I'm going through lots of personal trials/issues, and don't have much to say/post these days.
But I'm around!

Hi Grannyrod
Nice to know someone's missed me
Just being quiet and listening/watching for a while

All I have to say about this is PU!
Why do we need to add anymore stink into the air we breath. The next thing you will know is that the odor of popcorn will cause some kind of lung cancer.
I know the marketing execs want you to have a pleasant shopping experience by wafting odors at you that remind you of your wonderful childhood. What if you grew up in a paper town? That is one smell I do not want around anything.
I am also one of those who has a sensitive nose to strong smells. Perfume in elevators, the smell of the car in front of you, the guy who did not wash this week. Blah, we have enough of that without the extras that the marketeers push at us. I mean, what smell would you use to let you know that there is a toilet nearby? Or what smell do you need to entice you to buy some underwear? Then again, I do love the smell of new money, but I do not need to have the odor wafting thru the ether to lure me to making some.
Ah well, I am on a rant, and what do I know.
