What's Facebook?
Evidently it's software syphilis, or hard drive herpes, or computer clap, or something equally silly.

I joined Facebook about a year ago at the prompting of the wife of a long time friend. She is apparently addicted to it but I am sorry I do NOT need to know what she ate for breakfast, lunch or dinner on any given day. Quite frankly, besides the opportunity to track down long lost friends I do not only do NOT get it. But, additionally, I do NOT buy into the data mining that Facebook does. I have serious privacy concerns about their data mining.

My opinion of it remains the same. I use it to see the pics my kids post and that's about it. I don't spend any time on there other than that, as I find it boring. Although, I did use FB to finally reconnect with my estranged daughter (after about ten years) last winter. We've been in weekly contact ever since.

w/o facebook, I wouldn't know Lainey's last name (or maybe she made one up for her profile).

We all have opinions, I shared mine your sharing yours. With all due respect since you consider mine wrong i consider yours wrong.

Facebook is like a cancer its creeps into every fiber of a heavy user's being and eats their privacy away. Let's consider Facebook the Internet cancer.

Did you even read the article Patty?
No, Dave, I did not read the article. My disagreement is with you so I don't care about the links. You are now talking about a "heavy user" although you didn't mention that before. Most things that people do to excess will cause major problems in their lives, and maybe even cancer. You're a beer drinker but I'm sure you have control over it. I had a neighbor growing up, who drank beer until it killed him. Just as facebook isn't the problem, it's the person who goes overboard with something that's the problem.

I check it out daily. Sometimes more sometimes less. I connect with my nieces, nephews, sister, and friends from various places. I wouldn't consider myself a heavy user, but have found it is an excellent way to stay in touch with folks and also to communicate with companies from whom I've purchased things. I had a problem with one of my cat deterrents and through FB was able to directly communicate, get the problem solved and move on. Funny how you can get the attention of a company when you publicly announce you have a problem with their product.
