Default The S2000 Musicians....

Hearing about Chazmo's musical talent LINK gave me the idea to assemble the
Vintage S2000 Musicians

We'll have both an instrumental and a vocal group,
which may perform separately...sometimes together.

What talents (it's OK if they are a little dormant...or a lot dormant ) do you have to lend to our crew?
A musical instrument? Piano or keyboard?
A reasonable singing voice....which part....S/A/T/B?
If we have a band, we could even have cheerleaders

I'll try to start a roster right here, starting with me (and I volunteered Chaz)

*paS2K- Baritone
*Tomcatt- Basso

I have some artistic talent but I've got no talents at all in the musical department.

Patty, you can be a cheerleader
After all, that's what you are a lot of the time here on s2ki!
I know what you mean, Jerry. I figure I do get pretty enthusiastic about s2ki but I'm definitely not the cheerleader type.

Wait....it seems to me that you and Andy already have shown them to us.....
This is sounding like another insult, Jerry. What does this mean?

<edit> Jerry deleted his statement. He didn't mean to insult me.

Didn't you post a pic of both of you in your motorcycle garb....a month or two ago?

No insult intended!

I thought this thread was a fun idea....to bad no one else thinks so.
Okayalrightalready! You talked me into it - I'll play the kazoo or that little triangle thingy that you hit with a stick every once in a while (no, not the dinner bell!)

It's just really quiet in here today, Jerry...you may have to wait until this evening to have the band join in...so to speak.

I love to sing. I'll sing anything anywhere, at the drop of a hat. Problem is, when I sing, it's a stampede the other way. You want a room cleared as quickly as having Scotty beam them up? One line of me singing and it's done.

One of my lifelong grievances is that I truly love to sing and absolutely CANNOT carry any remote sembmlance of a tune. Doesn't stop me, though...

Regarding musical instruments, the only thing I can play is the radio, or CD/MP3 player...

can't sing for beans.

I appear to be the resident Vintage saxophonist. Alto, tenor, bari, soprano + Yamaha WX5 (midi wind synth). Pretty lousy flutist and clarinet only if you put a gun to my head.

Used to gig nearly every weekend with an R&B/soul/funk/contemp. jazz group. It used to blow my mind that I could make a few grand a year doing something I absolutely loved.

Now I only play out a couple times a month.

Played trumpet for past 30+ years but stopped a couple of years ago (just too busy with other things) so it will take a while to get the chops back in shape! This is the one thing I would rather do as a job if I could make as good a living as I do in the practice.

I can't carry a tune in a dump truck! Except apparently singing along to Jimmy Buffet. We apparently sing in the same key. Plant Pixie was amazed one day when I was singing along.

However, I do play the drums for my own enjoyment. I have a Ludwig jazz set that I have not played for several years. I took it down to make room for our fold out sofa in our rec room years ago when we needed the room for company that was visiting. I really do need to set it back up and play just for stress relief and my own enjoyment.

Hey - that's a GOOD thing! There is many a Buffett song with all of the above-mentioned components (baritone, trumpet, sax, kazzoo, people who background dance and say "do dah do dah doo" who don't actually sing, the occasional kazoo, as well as cool costumes and backdrops). We may be on to something here
