Default S2000 Hybrid - it could happen

About a month ago a few S2000 owners had the opportunity to meet with a representative from Honda and design students in Detroit to discuss where the S2000 should go, as far as future design. At the end of the meeting each of the owner's were asked, "If you could make just one change, what would it be?"

I suggested Honda continue to make the S2000 a technology showcase, and the best way would be to develop a new state-of-the-art alternative powerplant.

Who knows, Honda and I may be thinking alike according this report.

I don't see how you could do it without adding a ton of weight and seriously screwing up the weight distribution.

I hope the S continues to represent a technological showcase. The list of things that made this car special in 1999 is as long as your arm. But you guys have a point... There's no way they'd introduce stuff that makes the car too heavy or too unbalanced to be sporty. No question, they've got a tough act to follow.

I don't necessarily agree that the next gen has to have a big HP boost. Honda has not seemed to buy into that world-wide HP war, and it's done very well for them not to. We'll see on that score.

If / when there is a new generation of our car it'll have to fit the driving experience that we expect from it, or it'll die -- like the late-80's Z cars. Let's hope sane, aggressive heads prevail at Honda!

Why would adding an electric motor add a lot of weight

OTOH, maybe I'm underestimating the amount off hardware to get that incremental torque to the rear wheels...

Alright, big guy... If they can give us big HP and improve gas mileage, and reduce weight, that'd be a good move.
