Sounds like a drunk but who knows.

The troopers tested him on the spot and he was not drunk, he was in his mid thirties with a clean driving record. His trial is going to be in October, afterwhich I plan to file a civil suit against him.
I am in support of your civil suit against him. Something horrible could have happened with throwing a bottle. Also, I believe you have to make this painful for this individual in his pocket book too for doing something like this. It was totally uncalled for. It was absolutely unncessary. I don't know what makes people behave like this.

Has nothing (or very little) to do with "sports cars". Some people just can't stand to be passed. It offends them in some unfathonable way.
I occasionally encounter this when passing people while driving my Element, which is as unlike a sports car as it is possible to be. No one has ever thrown a bottle at me, but people have reacted with extremely out-of-proportion aggression.
There is something about cars that make people feel they are the kings of the universe, and anything that disrupts that fantasy causes them to go haywire.

I see road rage all of the time here, but nothing to the degree that you experienced. It usually manifests itself in the form of aggressive driving, tailgating or expressions using the middle finger of one hand or the other.
I think Mike is right about there being something about cars that brings out the worst in people.
Please keep us in the loop, I'm curious to hear how this works itself out and what happens to the guilty party.
I'm glad neither you or Beth was hurt. Maybe, thankfully, that was your New Years gift.
Happy New Year to both of you. La Shanna Tovah.

Wow...so glad you are OK!!! Reminds me of the time I was on the DC Beltway and a piece of plywood came off a truck and slammed into the front of my car. One inch above and it would have come through the windshield and most likely killed me. You just never know. Keep us posted on this case.

Guys a f'in idiot. Maury glad to see you did the smart thing and used the phone rather than a car or worse to confront this jackbutt.
