Road America
I know some of you lucky folks have had the opportunity to race at RA in your S2000. I only had the opportunity to drive it once - an unauthorized after hours lap in a Nissan Maxima. There's a great story there but I'm not telling it. However, here's some great ALMS footage of the track that a friend sent me and I thought I would share it.

video.
It almost sounded like his top gear was a bit too tall for the course. But I suppose if you have the field covered that well that's really not a problem.

And, here's a interesting video of Road Atlanta, 1970, in a CanAm car.

And to top things off, since the subject is RA, here's a link to Peter Egan’s Road & Track article about building a Westfield kit of a Lotus XI and embarking the next morning on a cross country trip from LA to Road America. The article is equal parts dry journal and audacious journey.

Good stuff Harry. I have promised myself I WILL get back to the RA & Glen vintage races in 2011!
Here's your chance to buy a piece of history - Meister Brau. That world-famous Chicago brew - and racer's favorite - that fueled the Midwest in the 50s and 60s is up for sale, or, at least the brand name is. The beer label is among 150 trademarks that span 13 categories ranging from toys to personal-care products that will be auctioned off next month in New York, according to Advertising Age . The trademarks were acquired over the years by Michael Reich, CEO of Brands USA Holdings, who apparently believes now is the best time to sell.
Racebrook is conducting the auction on behalf of Brands USA on Dec. 8 at the Waldorf Astoria or via online bidding. Meister Brau occupies an important place in U.S beer history. It was once owned by the Peter Hand Brewery in Chicago, and they were the inventors of the first "Lite" beer back in the late 60s. The Miller Brewing Co. bought Meister Brau in order to get its hands on the "Lite" concept and formula. And the rest, as they say, is beer drinking history. BUT more importantly, which I'm sure you know, is the Brewery sponsored the famous "Meister Brauser" Racing Team which raced Scarab and Chaparrals in the late 50s and early 60s with notable drivers Augie Pabst and Harry Heuer.
I'm wondering out loud if Augie, who at the S2000 intro, was one of the first owners (how's that triva fans) still is bringing his Meister Brau Scarab to the RA vintage? It was a regular when I attended regularly.

As and aside, Dave, you might like to have a look at this video from last year of some clockwise laps at the TWS track I'll be running on tomorrow and Sunday. The Z06 driver is in an intermediate group, but he runs a great line and makes some good lap times. 2.0 is already pretty fast on this track (2.7 mi, 15 turns), but his best lap is 1.56+, -- with speeds close to 160 on the straight.

Jim, what a slick video for recording everything - I can't believe all the info that shows....sweet. It records everything but him scratching himself! Very challenging track. Looks like a lot of fun; enjoy.
